Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada announced on March 31, 2022, that they will, in response to the large volume of applications, improve their operations, adding resources where they are needed most. By modernizing the immigration system and improving clients experience, Minister Fraser believes this will help achieve a goal of 147,000 permanent residence final decisions being made in the first quarter of 2022.
In February 2022, IRCC launches a new digital case status tracker that allows some family class permanent residence applicants, sponsors, and their representatives to check their application status online more easily.
At Premium Law we process hundreds of applications yearly, and we find that the digital tracker has its pros, but when it works successfully. Also keeping in mind, not all applications are able to use this tracker just yet, which I believe needs to be the case. Although this approach is headed in the right direction, it has been a much-needed effort.
Covid-19 has encouraged a more virtual presence with Immigration Canada’s processing. IRCC since April 1, 2020, and January 31st, 2022, has held 198,900 virtual citizenship ceremonies.
We are looking forward to an ongoing commitment from IRCC Canada with their goal to improve client services.
